Finney Law Firm was notified this morning that Aftab Pureval has hired a fourth law firm to represent him in the Ohio Elections Commission investigation into his campaign spending.
The newest member of Pureval’s legal team is noted class-action attorney Paul DeMarco of Markovits, Stock & DeMarco. DeMarco previously represented another former Chabot opponent, Steve Driehaus when Driehaus sued the Pro-Life organization Susan B. Anthony List. We wrote about the Sixth Circuit’s affirmance of summary judgment against Driehaus in that case here.
DeMarco is also representing Pureval in Brittney Heitman’s lawsuit to allow her to speak out about her tenure as an employee under Pureval at the Hamilton County Clerk of Court’s office. Readers will recall that DeMarco succeeded in delaying that case while we await a ruling on a motion to remand the case back to Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
DeMarco will be the sixth attorney representing Pureval in this case. Pureval is now represented by attorneys from law firms in Washington D.C.: Columbus, Ohio; and two Cincinnati law firms. Our client, Mark Miller, continues to be represented by Finney Law Firm attorneys Brian Shrive and Chris Finney. We are humbled that Pureval and his attorneys think so much of our legal skills that he feels it necessary to bring in yet another heavy hitter against us.
Listen to Brian Shrive discuss the latest twists and turn in the case with Mike Allen beginning at the 35:30 mark:
